Salvatore Maduli was one of the pioneers of the Fishermen's Village of Fregene, where he arrived in 1956: one of the many young men from Calabria who landed here with little money in their pockets and plenty of dreams. Ever since, almost everyone has passed through his place — the famous and the less famous.

Italian public television RAI Due dedicated a documentary to the Fishermen's Village and one of its protagonists for the series “La storia siamo noi” by Giovanni Minoli. Among these tables passed Gian Maria Volontè — with whom Salvatore played a small role in “The Mattei Affair” by Francesco Rosi, as the barman (1972) — Florinda Bolkan, Mastroianni, Totò, and directors such as Nanny Loy and Sergio Corbucci.

After two generational handovers, La Scialuppa still breathes that cinematic atmosphere, that flavour of art and eccentricity that Fregene and Rome will never lose.

Today “La Scialuppa da Salvatore” is the Fregene beach club offering a restaurant, beach service and event planning — weddings, meetings and private parties — led by three generations united by the same great passion.
